The 2025 total represents an increase on 2024, but this was not a broad-based recovery across all species. The rise was driven by mink, while both fox and Finnraccoon sales continued to fall. In 2025, mink sales rose to 5,566,946, up from 3,671,058 in 2024. By contrast, fox sales fell from 549,435 to 425,338, and Finnraccoon sales fell from 35,406 to 29,705.
A rebound driven by mink
While overall auction volume increased in 2025, fox and Finnraccoon sales continued their longer-term decline.
Prices and value
Average prices do not necessarily move in step with sales volume. For example, average fox prices rose from US$54.50 in 2023 to US$56.00 in 2024 and US$57.80 in 2025, even as the number of fox pelts sold fell from 900,370 to 549,435 and then 425,338.
The total value of auction sales was US$272,179,249 in 2023, US$162,757,137 in 2024 and US$233,408,776 in 2025. In 2018, the total shown in the summary was US$270,860,181.
