Greece fur trade overview
Greece remains one of Europe’s few remaining fur-producing and exporting countries, with a total of USD 36.9 million in raw fur exports and around USD 40 million in fur clothing exports recorded in 2024.
Despite rising public pressure across the EU to end the trade, Greece continues to export raw and processed furs to partners like Finland and Italy, while its fur garments are primarily shipped to the United States. This sustained trade activity positions Greece as an important link in the international fur supply chain, even as most EU countries move away from fur farming and sales.
The figures highlight the need for EU-wide legislation to ensure a consistent and ethical approach to phasing out the fur industry.
